Irene Gurley, artista plástico venezolana radicada en la ciudad de Buenos Aires-Argentina. Desde el año 2012 comparte un proyecto musical con el fotógrafo y músico Joel Gómez, también venezolano radicado en la ciudad de Buenos Aires, juntos invitan al conocido percusionista callejero Sebastian Zoppi para participar en la grabación de los temas «Amity» y «Heroes For Ghosts» para formar parte del proyecto «Cycling Colours» vol 6 tributo a The Gathering. Desde el año 2009 hasta el 2012 Irene Gurley formó parte de la banda de rock alternativo Onyx, editando su primer EP homónimo en 2011 el cual tuvo una buena aceptación y difusión a nivel local. En la actualidad se encuentra constantemente trabajando en el desarrollo de un nuevo proyecto musical.

Sebastian Zoppi quien es conocido por ser percusionista en un espectáculo callejero en el que toca con recipientes plásticos, con los cuales consigue ritmos que van desde el Drum and Bass, hasta el Rock Progresivo, y con su show ha conseguido recorrer varios países de Europa. En ambos temas para Cycling Colours colabora tocando la batería y algunos arreglos de percusión con los recipientes plásticos. En la actualidad Zoppi cuenta con mas de 27.000 seguidores en su pagina de Facebook y miles de visitas en sus videos de Youtube. También participó en el video de la canción «The Child Will Fly» de Roger Waters donde también colaboraron Gustavo Cerati, Shakira y Eric Clapton.

Irene Gurley, plastic artist from Venezuela living in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Since 2012 she shares a musical project with  Joel Gómez, also from Venezuela but living in Buenos Aires. They joined the project Cycling Colours, a tribute to The Gathering to record two songs: «Amity» and «Heroes for Ghosts», inviting the famous street drummer Sebastian Zoppi to collaborate in the recordings with them.

From 2009 to 2012 Irene Gurley was a member of Onyx, an alternative rock band that had good recognition with their homonymus EP in 2011. Currently she is working on her new musical project.

Sebastian Zoppi is a well-known street bucket drummer, mastering different beats from Drum and Bass to Progressive styles. With his show he has been called to travel around  Europe. On both cover songs for Cycling Colours, he collaborates playing drums and arrangements with his plastic buckets. Nowadays, Zoppi has a Facebook page with over 27k followers, and thousands of visitors on his Youtube channel. He also collaborated on the videoclip «The Child Will Fly» from Roger Waters, were also collaborated Gustavo Cerati, Shakira and Eric Clapton. Take a look on the video on the Spanish post.

The Lunch Club

The Lunch Club es un proyecto fundado por cinco chicos comunes que disfrutan de una buena velada rodeados de música obscura en un estado de ánimo agradable y relajado.

Se conocieron en UMCE, Chile, y desde 2013 han considerado la idea de hacer música juntos. Hoy aún es un proyecto, pero tienen un pequeño set de covers, algunos de ellos ya grabados, con la intención de crear música original emotiva, variante.

The Lunch Club is a music project founded by five common guys and gals who enjoy a good soirée surrounded by dark music in a nice and slow mood.

They met at UMCE, Chile, and since 2013 have considered the idea of creating music together. Today, still a project, they have a little setlist of covers, some of them recorded, and the intention to create original moody music.

Just Motion

«Just Motion» es una banda chilena de rock original y también es la continuación espiritual de la banda tributo a The Gathering «Slow Motion», que participó en Cycling Colours Vol. 3, después de presentarse en Santiago y Valparaíso durante 2010 y 2012. Pueden encontrar más sobre ellos en facebook.

Actualmente formada por Valeska Castillo, Carlos Ardiles y Jonathan Ramírez, «Just Motion» se prepara para grabar su primer EP donde se integrarán más músicos al proyecto, que reúne influencias de bandas como Rökkurró, Björk, Steven Wilson, Anekdoten, entre otras.

La realización de esta versión de «Afterwords» intenta rescatar uno de los tantos estilos que The Gathering exploró durante su historia musical (escuchen un clip al final de este post):

Just Motion is a rock band from Chile that emerges as an spiritual continuity of «Slow Motion», a tribute band to The Gathering. They collaborated on Cycling Colours Vol. 3 after several shows on Santiago and Valparaiso from 2010 to 2012. You can find more about them on facebook.

Current line up for «Just Motion» is: Valeska Castillo, Carlos Ardiles and Jonathan Ramírez. They are on the recording process of their first EP, where more musicians will join. Main influences for this project are bands like Rökkurró, Björk, Steven Wilson, Anekdoten, amongs others.

The «Afterwords» cover version they recorded for Cycling Colours Vol. 6 tries to rescue some of the vast styles that The Gathering explored during their musical history. Here is a sample of this track:

Joven artista argentina autodidacta. Sus pasiones son la música y las artes plásticas.

Empezó a los 4 años a tocar el piano como si fuera un juego y muy pronto comenzó a cantar. Ya en su adolescencia, decidió empezar a tocar la guitarra. Con algunas instrucciones de su hermano mayor, emprendió el aprendizaje.

Amante de los instrumentos musicales, tocó bajo y batería. Pero su instrumento predilecto siempre fue la voz. Nunca aprendió música en clases particulares; lo que la guía hasta el día de hoy es su oído.

Sus influencias musicales son variadas: desde los 5 años escuchaba música clásica gracias a su padre. Del pop al metal, del rock alternativo a la música celta, de la electrónica a la música oriental tradicional.

Las artistas que más la influenciaron son Anneke Van Giersbergen, Amy Lynn Lee y Emilie Autumn Liddell.

Actualmente se encuentra componiendo música de distintos géneros y experimentando con la música electrónica. Participa en Cycling Colours, a tribute to The Gathering con el tema «Locked Away».

Young self-taught artist from Argentina. Her passions are music and plastic arts.

She started to play the piano as a game at the age of 4, and quickly she started to sing. When she turned a teenager she decided to start playing the guitar. Being instructed by her older brother, she started her independent learning.

Loving musical instruments, she played bass and drums too, but her favorite instrument was always the voice.

She never learn music through private classes, so her guide has been always her ear.

Her musical influences are various: since she was 5 years old she was listening to classical music thanks to her father. From pop to metal, alternative rock to celtic music, from electronic to asian/oriental styles.

The artists she admires the most are Anneke Van Giersbergen, Amy Lynn Lee and Emilie Autumn Liddell.

She is currently composing music from diferent genres, experimenting with electronic music. She collaborates in Cycling Colours, a tribute to The Gathering, Vol. 6, with the cover of «Locked Away». Take a look of the video above.

Amoenus

Locus Amoenus significa: Lugar ameno, agradable, idílico. Esa es la identificación que representa fielmente lo que les provoca expresarse mediante su arte a los integrantes de Amoenus. La filosofía de Amoenus es estar en constante movimiento y búsqueda. Explorando incansablemente climas, energía, dinamismo, ritmos, armonías donde cada instrumento y la voz contribuyen a crear una atmosfera donde es muy fácil dejarse llevar y seguir a uno u otro. Surgido en 2006, con Natalia Tuñon en la voz, Rodolfo Amoroso en guitarras y Alejandro Montenegro en bajo, el trío Amoenus presenta su primer trabajo, Imágenes de un Naufragio, grabado en forma independiente y artesanal entre los meses de noviembre de 2011 y Marzo de 2013.

Dos temas de «Imágenes de un Naufragio» formaron parte del proyecto ‘Close Your Eyes For Encore‘, disco armado con músicos del foro oficial de la banda holandesa ‘The Gathering’, que fue lanzado a través de ‘Dark Rock Productions’ en respuesta al recibimiento positivo que tuvieron los discos tributos ‘Cycling Colours‘ a The Gathering, del cual Amoenus también participó.

A lo largo de 2014 han tocado en diferentes escenarios de Buenos Aires con la incorporación de Rubén Debenedetti en batería tanto en formato eléctrico como así también en acústico. Amoenus participa en el Vol. 6 de Cycling Colours, a tribute to The Gathering, con los temas «Souvenirs» y «Waking Hour». Escuchen un clip al final de este post.

Amoenus is a rock band from Argentina. The name means an ideal description of nature, composed by repetitive elements that focus on creating the perfect place. The band was formed in 2006 by Rodo Amoroso, Alejandro Montenegro and Natalia Tuñón. Rubén Debenedetti later joined this project on drums. Over the years we have played in different places of Buenos Aires in both electric and acoustic format.

‘Imágenes de un Naufragio‘ is our debut album. Recorded between September 2011 and May 2013 in ‘El Garage Records’ and released on July 23rd 2013. Listen and download on the link above.

Mindtech

Mindtech es una banda de la ciudad de Oslo, Noruega, que existe desde 2007, pero que terminó su esperado album debut «Elements Of Warfare» en 2013, recibiendo excelentes críticas.

Los miembros tienen una larga trayectoria en bandas como Loveshack, Frimann Frelst, Tritonus, Dolls of Disaster, y algunas más.

Mindtech fusiona metal con estupendos riffs pesados, voces melódicas y amplios coros.

La primera muestra del album fue el sencillo «No Solution», que recibió muy buenas respuestas y fue transmitido por la radio noruega.

Además de trabajar en el album, también han tenido algunos shows en vivo, dos de ellos siendo banda abridora del concierto de Volbeat, en su visita a Noruega en 2008.

El album fue lanzado el 11 de octubre de 2013 a través de su propio sello TriTech Music, y distribuido por Indie Distribution. Está disponible en todo el mundo en formato digital, y en formato físico por ahora sólo en Noruega.

El album contiene interpretaciones de las cantantes noruegas Anette Uvaas Gulbrandsen y Linda Kvam, el tecladista Lasse Finbråten (Circus Maximus) y el bajista Linus Abrahamson, de la banda sueca Andromeda.

En 2015 Mindtech empieza a tomar un acercamiento diferente a la música, con los nuevos vocalistas Anette Uvaas Gulbrandsen (The Sabbathian/ Leave’s Eyes) y Kai Roger Østheim.

La primera muestra de la nueva era de Mindtech es a través de la participación en el tributo virtual a The Gathering «Cycling Colours Vol. 6». El tema elegido fue «Strange Machines», y el resultado es básicamente una mirada a lo que vendrá.

Mindtech has existed since 2007, but finished their long awaited debutalbum «Elements Of Warfare» in 2013, and received great reviews.

The bandmembers have a long trackrecord, from bands like Loveshack, Frimann Frelst, Tritonus, Dolls of Disaster, and then some.

Mindtech is playing metal, with heavy, groovy riffing, melodic vocals and big choruses.

First taste from the album, was their single ”No Solution”, and it received great reactions,
and airplay on Norwegian radio.

Besides working on the album, there has also been a few livegigs, two of them as support act for Volbeat, on their 2008-visit in Norway.

The album was released October 11th 2013 on their own TriTech Music label, and with distribution from Indie Distribution. It is available worldwide in a digital format, and on CD, at first, just in Norway.

The album contained performances from Norwegian singers Anette Uvaas Gulbrandsen and Linda Kvam, keyboard player Lasse Finbråten(Circus Maximus) and bass player Linus Abrahamson from Swedish band Andromeda.

2015, Mindtech is taking a different approach music wise, with the new singers Anette Uvaas Gulbrandsen (The Sabbathian/ Leave’s Eyes) and Kai Roger Østheim. And the first taste of the The New Era of Mindtech, is the participation on The Gathering tribute sampler “Cycling Colours Vol.6” . They are covering the track “Strange Machines”, and the result is somewhat a taste of what’s to come.
